 Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh DGP, Harish Gupta, has said the police are continuing the cordon and search operations across the state with a view to protecting Law and Order and controlling crime.

He explained that this programme is being organised at all important circles, villages and city outskirts across districts. During this drill, the police verified matters relating to the presence of suspects, old criminals, the houses of old criminals, the secret places storing illegal liquor, harmful arms, crackers, drugs, goods and vehicles that have no records.

The police would take suspects into custody for a thorough inquiry and seize vehicles that have no proper records. In the past two days, the police conducted cordon and search operations at 168 sensitive areas and seized as many as 803 vehicles that had no records.

Gupta said 185 litres of ID liquor, 19.94 litres of liquor, 107 litres of non-duty paid liquor and 130 mobile phones were seized. Additionally, 14 persons have been arrested so far.

He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in the cordon and search operations. If any information on crime is available with the people, they can share it with the local police or dial 112/100, he added.
