Revanth Invites Sonia Gandhi to Telangana Formation Day Fete

 Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday met former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and invited her to the 10th anniversary of Telangana State on June 2. Sources said she is likely to attend the event.

Speaking with media persons in New Delhi, Revanth Reddy said that the government will release Telangana's new emblem and anthem on June 2, which will reflect the state's tradition and culture. “The new emblem and anthem will remind everyone about sacrifices and agitations made by people to attain statehood.”

In the emblem, the Chief Minister said the designers had highlighted Telangana culture rather than the identities of dictatorship as the people of Telangana had carried out movements and revolutions against dictators.

He said the tales of people’s sacrifices and stories of the state’s heritage would be highlighted in the anthem.

Speaking about BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, Revanth Reddy said he had asked him to attend the Assembly sessions to discuss issues for making Telangana state a better place.

Talking about the Kaleshwaram controversy, Revanth Reddy said the government would take decisions on the future course of action based on the reports of the inquiry committees looking into the matter.

He said that 52 tmc ft of water had been released into the sea due to the damage to the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages. On the electricity cost for the massive motors of the lift irrigation component of the Kaleshwaram scheme, he said that it was like water in the sea.

On the phone-tapping issue, Revanth Reddy said that investigations were on and he had never monitored the developments.

He also held discussions with AICC senior leader K.C. Venugopal, and discussed matters related to the Formation Day among others.
