 Anantapur: In a decisive move against red sanders smuggling, a task force team successfully apprehended a four-member gang on Saturday.

The team, led by SP P. Srinivas and DSP Chenchubabu, intercepted two suspicious vehicles near the Penchalakona forest in Tirupati district. The vehicles, originating from Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, were spotted moving towards the Eguva Palli reserved forest area.Upon closer inspection, officers observed the smugglers actively loading red sander logs into their vehicle. A swift operation led to the arrest of four individuals - Anbalagan, Asif Bhasha, Muthu, and Selvam - while a few others managed to escape.

The task force successfully seized the vehicles involved, a tempo and a car, along with a total of 16 red sander logs. The confiscated property is estimated to be worth Rs. 40 lakh. Efforts are likely underway to apprehend the remaining members of the smuggling gang.
