Tension Erupts in Chikkamagaluru Over Alleged Threat of Penalty for Skipping School on Ayodhya Event

Bengaluru: Tension prevailed in front of St Joseph’s School in Chikkamagaluru town on Saturday after activists of pro-Hindu organisations Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal gathering over alleged news of the School threatening the students to impose a penalty of Rs 1,000 on them if they failed to attend classes on Monday, the day of consecration of Ram idol at Ayodhya.

Since it was holidays on Saturday and Sunday, it is said that School authorities had asked the students not to miss the classes on Monday and some students had brought to the notice of their parents that School authorities would impose a penalty of Rs 1,000 on them if they fail to attend the classes on Monday.

Activists of pro-Hindu organisations came to know about the alleged threat to the students on imposing penalty and gathered in front of the School to register their protest. School authorities told the protesters that it has been a practice by the School to warn students not to miss classes on days having continuous holidays and denied having told the students to impose a penalty of Rs 1,000 on them if they fail to attend classes on Monday.

Additional Superintendent of Police Krishnamurthy visited the School. After clarification from the School, pro-Hindu activists withdrew their protest.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal on his X account asked the parents and students to bring to his notice if the School imposed a penalty on them. Yatnal wanted Hindu parents to boycott such schools which are anti-Hindu.
