Vijayawada: Textbooks, Notebooks, Uniforms and Bags To Reach Students by June 12
Vijayawada: Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy has directed the education department to ensure that textbooks, notebooks, uniforms and bags reach the students by the time the schools reopen on June 12.
The CS reviewed the arrangements for the academic year 2024-25 with officials of the education department at the state secretariat on Wednesday.
He ordered a review of the number of books, uniforms and bags that have been provided so far and what more needs to be provided. After that, the measures taken to implement the midday meal scheme were reviewed.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the works undertaken in the schools, the mid-day meal scheme, accommodation and other issues.
Principal secretary to Education Praveen Prakash explained the arrangements for the coming academic year through a PowerPoint presentation. He said 82 per cent of the books have already been published and reached the mandal stock points.
He said that bilingual textbooks from Class 1 to 10 will be provided to students. A total of 70, 42,012 students have been enrolled from Class 1 to 10. Among them, 36,54,539 students have been enrolled in government schools.
Commissioner K Bhaskar explained about school education infrastructure under Nadu Nedu phase-2, with references to the Rs 7,029 crore spent on construction of toilets with running water in various schools, drinking water and electricity facility, furniture, paintings, repairs to schools, green chalkboards, construction of additional classes, construction of compound walls, kitchen sheds and construction of Aanganwadi centres.
