Hyderabad: Congress Working Committee (CWC) members on Saturday passed a resolution requesting Rahul Gandhi to take up the position of the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha.

"CWC unanimously requested Rahul Gandhi to take up the position of leader of opposition in Lok Sabha.. Rahul Gandhi is the best person to lead this campaign inside the parliament," said Congress general secretary KC Venugopal in a press conference.

On being asked if Rahul Gandhi had accepted the LoP role in Lok Sabha, the congress leader said Rahul Gandhi will take a decision soon.

Rahul Gandhi had won two seats that he contested, Rae Bareli and Wayanad. When asked about which seat he will be representing, KC Venugopal said the decision would come in 2-3 days.

"Our leaders, workers are charged up and revival of Congress has begun," added KC Venugopal.
Congress has secured 99 seats in 2024 Lok Sabha Elections improving their current tally to 99 from 52 in 2019. Congress is the second largest party in Lok Sabha and it will get the leader of opposition for the first time since 2014 as their tally was below the 10 percent of total seats in the lower house, both in 2014 and 2019.

Congress Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, who convened CWC meeting, will also host a dinner for all extended CWC members and party MPs at Hotel Ashok in Delhi.
