New Delhi: In a heart wrenching incident, a mother along with her three-year-old son died after falling into an open drain during the rains that lashed Delhi on Thursday evening.

The mother, Tanuja Bisht, who was on her way home from the weekly market in Ghazipur fell into the open drain as the roads were submerged with water.
It was only hours later their bodies were found, 500 meters away, but the mother was still holding the hands of the child, witnesses said.
"We got the information around 7:30 pm, the drain was overflowing, we called '100', the cops arrived with rescue teams but they had no proper equipment. The bodies were recovered more than two hours later," Tanuja's uncle told NDTV.
We rushed them to the hospital in a private cab, hoping for a little chance, he added.
Meanwhile, 11 deaths were reported in Delhi on Thursday due to the rains. Recently, three Civil Services aspirants have lost their lives due to rain-water flooding in a coaching centre's basement.
