Kolkata: Claiming to have never found “such a liar PM” like Narendra Modi, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday threatened to complain to the Election Commission for Model Code of Conduct violation if his meditation is broadcast.

The Trinamul Congress supremo also hit back at the PM for levelling charges from his rally at Mathurapur in South 24 Parganas in the morning against her party for misuse of the central funds he had released to stop river erosion in the state.

She alleged at Baruipur in South 24 Parganas, “I have seen many PMs. But I feel sad to make bad comments about someone. I haven't seen such a liar PM anywhere. Yesterday, he talked about restricting the cyclone. He stays at a palace in Delhi from where he did it, imagine!”

Ms Banerjee added, “While we stayed awake the whole night and supervised evacuation of 46 lakh people and relief work, he didn't even enquire.” Mocking Mr Modi's mediation plan, she later pointed out, “He better go to meditate but it should not be televised.”

“Does anyone meditate with a camera on him? We will complain against its broadcast for the MCC violation. At the end of every major election, he sneaks somewhere 48 hours before the last phase and shows people that he performs meditation,” the TMC chief wondered.

Taking a swipe at the PM, she then sarcastically remarked, “He has become a greater god than the god! If that is true then people ought to meditate on him. He does not need to perform it.” Ms Banerjee later attacked Mr Modi on the misuse of the central funds.

“He accused us of misappropriation of central funds to stop river erosion. In reality he did not send anything. It is us who utilised our funds to stop the problem,” she argued.

The CM held a roadshow from Shyambazar five-point crossing to the ancestral residence of Swami Vivekananda a day after Mr Modi made a similar public outreach exercise in the same route.
