ECI releases bypoll schedule for 13 Assembly Constituencies in 7 States
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday released the schedule for bye-election to 13 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in seven States.
The bye-election in 13 ACs would be conducted on July 10 while the counting of votes would be conducted on July 13. The ECI will issue a gazette notification on June 14. The last date of filing of nominations is June 21 while scrutiny of nominations would be conducted on June 24.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 26. Of the 13 ACs, four constituencies are from West Bengal, while three from Himachal Pradesh, two from Uttarakhand and four each ACs from Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab.
The bye-election to these constituencies was required following resignation of the sitting MLAs. After a short break after successfully conducting Lok Sabha elections and simultaneously Assembly elections in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, the ECI has started the process of conducting bye-elections to 13 ACs.
