Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Excise Department is likely to register a case against South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar over distributing about 400 bottles of liquor to his close followers on the Kanuma day.

A social media post had gone viral showing the MLA distributing bottles of alcohol and meat in his college to his supporters.

District prohibition and excise officer V. Sudheer told Deccan Chronicle, "Nobody has complained to us about the MLA distributing 400 bottles of liquor. As per prohibition and excise rules, a person can possess three bottles at a time. In this case, we have to collect evidence on whether or not MLA has procured those many bottles. If we find any evidence, we will take suo motu action. Meanwhile, if anyone comes with evidence and lodges a complaint, we will initiate action against the MLA.”

Jana Sena Party leaders, including South constituency fishermen community leader Dr. Mugi Srinivas, approached the Regional Intermediate Board office and complained against MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar’s college Ramabanam. They said the permission for the college must be cancelled over distribution of liquor on its premises. Jana Sena leaders said they will file a complaint against the MLA in the district excise office too.

Former Brahmin corporation chairman Seetamraju Sudhakar, who has resigned from the YSRC party, has demanded action against Vasupalli Ganesh for distributing cheap liquor bottles, violating the excise and education laws.
