Exit Polls Hint at YSRC Retaining Power in AP

A section of pollsters say NDA will take over state

Vijayawada: Exit poll results announced on Saturday by several pollsters indicate that the incumbent YSRC will be elected to power in Andhra Pradesh for the second consecutive term.

Pollster AARAA forecast that of the total 175 constituencies, the ruling YSRC will win 94–104 Assembly seats with a vote share of 49.4 per cent, while the NDA will win from 71–81 constituencies with a vote share of 47.5 per cent.

Similarly, it said, out of total 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, YSRC will win 13 and NDA 12, with TD’s share being nine, BJP two and Jana Sena one.

Similarly, several other pollsters like Partha Das said YSRC will get 110–120 seats while NDA will win from 55–65 constituencies. WRAP Strategies gave YSRC 158–171 seats and NDA 4–17.

YSRC senior leader and former minister Perni Venkataramaiah expressed confidence that their party will be elected for the second successive term with more than 151 Assembly seats and more than 20 Lok Sabha constituencies.

He maintained that people have backed the YSRC, led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, as it initiated a series of welfare schemes and developmental works.

On the other hand, there have been some pollsters who have indicated that NDA will get more parliamentary seats than the YSRC.

For example, India Today-Axis My India predicts that TD will get 13–15 Lok Sabha seats, YSRC 2–4, BJP 4–6 and Jana Sena two out of total of 25 seats.

ABP-Cvoter predicted that NDA will get 21–25 Lok Sabha seats while YSRC will be confined to 0–4 seats.

Today’s Chanakya claimed that TD will get 23 (plus or minus 3) and YSRC 3 (plus or minus 3) seats.

News 18 predicted that NDA will get 19–22 while YSRC will bag 5–8 Lok Sabha seats.

With regard to Assembly segments, RISE predicted that TD will get 115+ seats while YSRC will bag 58 seats and others one segment.

People’s Pulse projected that NDA will win 111–135 Assembly seats while the YSRC will bag 45–60 constituencies.
