The comment added to the online buzz and sparked a flood of responses from curious and astonished users.
As the post sparked a discussion online, various people were expressing surprise at the hefty amount and wondering how it could be so high. While some readers shared their personal stories of high electricity costs, others made assumptions about the causes for Singh's abnormally high bill. The conversation highlighted, varying costs across various regions as well as the difficulties many people have in controlling their utility bills.
In response to Singh's post, internet users shared different perspectives.
One user emphasized the direct relationship between costs and consumption by questioning Singh's electricity usage and the size of his home.
"So, the size of your house? ACs, lights, washing machine, dryer, etc. If you consume more electricity units, you'll have to pay more. You didn't specify two months, so that's conveniently ignored! Please minimize your electricity consumption, or be ready to pay up! There's no point in sensationalizing it on social media," the user wrote.
"This is mainly due to air conditioners. Running them is expensive. Nowadays, every room has one, and you can't get anyone to switch them off. With temperatures rising each year, we need energy-efficient ACs," another commented.
"This bill equals the entire monthly expenses of a small family in many parts of India," another user wrote.
