Hyderabad: House helper, 3 others held for theft

 Hyderabad: The Kollur Police on Wednesday arrested a domestic helper and his three accomplices involved in a theft at Muppa Indrapasthan Villas in Osmannagar, Ramachandrapuram Mandal. The incident occurred on the intervening night of December 25 and 26, 2023. The stolen items included 963 grams of gold and diamond jewellery and Rs 2,90,000 in cash.

The accused were identified as Prabhakar Malik, 28, Tapan Das, 32, Sachindra Das, 48, and Ratikanta Das, 26. Prabhakar, the helper, planned the theft by observing the house owner's routines. He executed the theft on December 25 with the assistance of three others.

After the theft, the accused dispersed, with Prabhakar giving money and gold ornaments to his accomplices. The police received credible information on January 15 leading to the arrest of all four offenders.

Speaking to the media, the Kollur Police urged the residents to enhance the security measures, including using central locking systems, verifying the background of household workers, and avoiding keeping valuables at home. The accused have been presented before the court for further proceedings.
