Hyderabad: A birthday boy and his friends were among 330 youngsters who were caught by the police for creating nuisance at night in the Old City.
The South Zone police conducted a ‘Chabutra Mission’ across its jurisdiction. All the youngsters rounded up were “creating nuisance in public spaces. The drive was conducted between 1 am and 4 am,” said Mohammed Ghouse Mohiuddin, additional DCP (south).
A teenager wearing a turban and with cake smeared on his face was shouting and celebrating with his friends in a residential neighbourhood when the police put an end to the birthday bash and brought him to the police station. After being counselled, he was released. “The trend of gathering at street corners to celebrate a birthday and shouting and bursting crackers is catching on fast .
People are calling up the police control room and lodging complaints,” Mr Moinuddin said. In the morning, the police summoned the parents of the youngsters and counselled them. All the youngsters were later let off after they promised not to disturb the peace late at night.
