Three dead in Outer Ring Road mishap
Van hits truck crew, car driver checking vehicle.
Hyderabad: Three persons were killed on Wednesday in an accident on the Outer Ring Road. The mishap occurred when a speeding van hit the victims standing on the road checking their truck. The driver of a car heading towards Patancheru had seen flames in the rear portion of the truck and had stopped it to inform about the smoke.
The accident took place when the truck’s two drivers, cleaner and the car’s driver were checking the truck. The Narsingi police said that the truck, loaded with biscuits, had started from a factory and was travelling to Karnataka.
When it reached Mirjaguda village on the ORR, the driver of a car travelling behind the truck saw flames on the rear right side of the truck. The car’s driver overtook the truck and signaled the truck’s driver to halt the truck. The car’s driver got down along with the two truck drivers and the truck’s cleaner to check the problem.
“All four of them went behind the truck and the car’s driver was explaining to the truck drivers about the flame he observed. Meanwhile, a van moving in the same direction hit all four of them,” said Narsingi inspector P. Ramchander Rao. Later the van rammed into the parked car.
The car’s driver Tillu Verma, 25, and the truck’s driver C. Praveen, 26, were killed on the spot, while the second driver of the truck, Prashanth, succumbed to injuries in hospital.
The cleaner, Sunil, 21, is undergoing treatment in hospital and is said to be out of danger. Based on a complaint from Prashanth’s uncle B. Srinivas Kumar, a case for causing death and injuries due to negligence has been registered.
The bodies were handed over to the families of the victims after postmortem.
