With no more Covid vaccines, Telangana health dept makes vaccine data disappear
HYDERABAD: It’s official. Telangana is well and truly out of Covid-19 vaccines with not a single dose available at any of the government hospitals big or small, primary health centres, and urban health centres.
With no Covid-19 vaccine doses available, the health department removed cumulative vaccine data sheet that was part of the daily Covid-19 update. There was no official word as to what those seeking their second, or first, dose of the vaccine should do if they want to get their shots.
There are still, according to the last data set released by the state health department on March 31 in its daily Covid bulletin, 8,87,920 second dose of the vaccine yet to be administered. As on the same day, the department said another 2,499 first doses were also due.
The office of Dr G. Srinivas Rao, Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, that issues the bulletin, on March 31 indicated that there was no stock of vaccines in Telangana, be it Covaxin or Covishield; the latter was not available for many weeks.
This being the situation, the bulletin, in an eye-watering piece of advice, however, continued to tell people that “it is important to complete vaccination by taking both doses.”
