Hyderabad: Youth beaten up for theft burns himself to death

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old youth who was troubled after being allegedly beaten up by over a mobile phone theft set himself ablaze in SR Nagar. N. Praneeth who burnt himself died on Friday evening. Police said Praneeth was a resident of BK Guda. His father was working as a watchman in an apartment complex and he cleaned the cars of the apartment residents. On Thursday he went to a nearby chicken shop where he allegedly stole a mobile phone from the shop owner.

The owner who came to know of this, caught Praneeth and allegedly beat him up. Troubled by this, Praneeth set himself afire at home on Friday using petrol while his parents were away. His parents said they had beat him up severely and that forced him to commit suicide. Police said they were checking the allegations. of the parents. Police registered a suspicious death case and handed over the body to the family after post-mortem.
