BENGALURU: This year’s PUC results saw the pass percentage going up by 7.18 per cent from 52.38% in 2017 to 59.56%. This is the highest since 2016.
Science stream students recorded 67.48%, the highest among the three streams. Overall, girls outshone boys yet again with 67.11%, while boys recorded 52.30%.
Dakshina Kannada (91.49) and Udupi (90.67) districts recorded the highest pass percentage, while Chikkodi (52.20) and Bidar (52.63) were at the other end of the list. As many as 54,692 students secured distinction, while over 2.13 lakh students scored first class marks. Mathematics paper saw 3,384 students scoring a centum (100/100), a 230% increase over last year (1,470).
Announcing the results, Department of Pre-Univeristy Education (DPUE) Director C. Shikha attributed the success to students working hard.
"Evaluation work was held in 63 centres across the state from March 24 to April 11. Failed candidates need not wait for revaluation results to apply for the supplementary exams which is scheduled to be held from June 8 to 20," she said.
