Hyderabad: Twenty five employees of Monasis Pharmaceutical Industry of Sangareddy were luckily out on a lunch break when a reactor exploded at the plant on Saturday afternoon. The unit stored inflammable solvents which caught fire which destroyed the building, fire officials said. 

The incident occurred at 1.45 pm at the Monasis united located at Pashamylaram industrial area in Sangareddy district, said V. Srinivas, district fire officer. “We rushed five fire tenders from Patanacheru, Sangareddy, Sadasivapet, and MSN Industries to the spot and by 5.30 pm, we were able to completely extinguish the flames,” he said.

Following the call from local area authorities, eight fire engines from Patanacheru, Sangareddy, Sadasivapet, and MSN Industries were rushed to the place. 

“Monasis has about 25 employees who happened to be on a lunch break during the mishap. The owner said that the electrical panel had an issue and that a short circuit might have triggered the fire. The same will be ascertained post an investigation, along with the property loss,” added the official.
