Collector N Prasanth pitches for students
Warns bus operators against being rude; opens FB page for plaints
KOZHIKODE: As the schools are ready for reopening on Wednesday, Kozhikode district administration has issued a direction to operators and employees of buses to ensure smooth travelling for students. Buses violating these instructions will face strict action.
The district administration also appealed the public to cooperate by reporting unruly behaviours of employees. District collector N. Prasanth urged the public to report such incidents with evidence through the official Facebook page.
“Dignified travel is not benevolence, but the right of students and the administration is bound to ensure this. We got many complaints in the past on various issues such as bad behaviour, not allowing students to sit in buses and making them wait to get into the buses. Such incidents are enough to cancel the permit of the buses,” he warned.
Meanwhile, the Savarigigiri project of the district administration under the ‘Compassionate Kozhikode’ is yet to get on track as the data collection of students are not complete. The initiative with the slogan ‘travel with dignity’ aims at smooth travel for students on buses with the cooperation of bus operators and the public.
“We have already made 20,000 smart cards for students, and another 80,000 is expected to be ready during the first phase, once we received the data,” said Nishanth Ravindran, CEO of Technovia Info Solutions, the technology partner.
