Police search continues for right leg of NRI Joy V John

Joy's right hand was recovered from Mannar on Tuesday after the local people saw it floating in the river.

ALAPPUZHA: The police have recovered all the body parts, except the right leg of Joy V. John, 69, the NRI who was shot dead and cut into pieces by his son  Sherin John, 36, on Thursday last.  Sherin, who was remanded  in judicial custody on Monday, had thrown Joy’s  body parts into  the Pampa river and various areas in  Kottayam district.

Joy’s right hand was recovered from Mannar on Tuesday after the local people saw it floating in the river.   The retrieved portions- torso, head, hands and left leg- were subjected to post-mortem at the Medical College Hospital and handed  over to the kin by Tuesday evening. Some portions were sent for DNA test.  

Earlier, the  left hand was found in the river near Pandanad and a leg was retrieved while it was flowing through the river in Pulinkunnu here. While the head was recovered from a dump yard in Peroor near Changanassery, the police unearthed the torso bundled in a gunny sack from the walkway at Chingavanam of Kottyam district. The  last rites of the deceased were held at St. Gregarious Orthodox Church, Chengannur, on Tuesday.
