Two teenagers drown in Manair Dam in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: In a tragic incident, two teenagers drowned in Lower Manair Dam (LMD) when they tried to swim in the reservoir on Wednesday. Their bodies were fished out by expert divers. The dam is located on the outskirts of the town of Karimnagar
.The deceased were Beerelli Sai Varun, 16, and his friend Sadula Sunand, 16, residents of Jyothinagar. They were students of different private junior colleges, said Karimnagar Rural Inspector BS Krishna and sub-inspector C Devender.
Police stated that Sai Varun and Sunand along with five other friends arrived at the dam on motorbikes at around 6 am. They exercised on its banks for an hour. Then Varun and Sunand decided to take a dip in the reservoir, though they did not know swimming. The water was deep and the two drowned inside the reservoir at around 7.30 am.
Upon noticing this, the other boys did not dare to swim in the reservoir. They alerted their parents and local residents. The parents informed police and rushed 1to the spot. They tried to trace the bodies, but in vain. Cops deployed expert divers in order to fish out the bodies. It took around 3 hours of time to bring out the bloated bodies of thestudents.
A pale of gloom descended over Jyothinagar following the untimely death of the two teenagers. People in large numbers visited the residences of the students and consoled their parents.
On May 25 last year, six children aged below 14 drowned in the reservoir after they ventured to take a dip to beat the heat. They belonged to different parts of the town. LMD is a major source of drinking water for Karimnagar, Warangal, Sircilla, Siddipet and Vemulawada towns.
