TPCC minority wing slams BRS govt's bias against minorities

 HYDERABAD: The state Congress launched a scathing attack against the BRS government for its persistent neglect of minorities and their welfare.

These allegations were made in a chargesheet released during a special executive meeting of the TPCC minority department here on Wednesday.

An audio-visual presentation against the inept administration was also released on the occasion.

They expressed regret at the rising unemployment rate among minority youth, estimated at 15 lakhs and discrimination in loans and job placements, particularly of Muslim candidates from the Old City.

The party pointed out that it was shameful that over 80 per cent of minority institutions were closed while scholarships and fee reimbursement were not being extended to Muslim students.

Thousands of applications seeking assistance under the Shaadi Mubarak scheme remain pending, the Congress leaders said. They also accused TRS leaders of grabbing Wakf properties worth hundreds of crores.

AICC minorities department chairman Imran Pratapgarhi directed the party cadre to contest the next Assembly elections utilizing the available resources and get inspired by the Karnataka Assembly elections.

Congress MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted a series of discrepancies regarding the BRS government's purported achievements concerning minority development as claimed in a report released by the CMO on Tuesday.

The Rs 9,166 crore spent on minority welfare in the last nine years amounts to a mere 0.463 per cent of the state's total budget from 2014-2023. Of the Rs 15,980 crore that has been allocated, Rs 6,814 crore remained unspent. Reddy disputed the government's claim of establishing 204 minority residential schools.
