Arrangements on for Guru Peyarchi' fest

THANJAVUR: All arrangements have been made at Sri Vasishteswaraswamy temple at Thittai in Thanjavur district for the ‘Guru Peyarchi (transit of planet Jupiter) festival’ on August 2.
A separate ‘sannidhi (shrine)’ for Guru Bhagawan exists in this temple near Thanjavur and large numbers of devotees visit and offer worship at the temple on ‘Guru Peyarchi’ day every year.
A ‘pandal’ with tin sheets has been put up around the temple. Surveillance cameras have been fitted to monitor the crowd movement. Electricity supply and generator facilities as a supplement have been arranged. Barricades have been put up to regulate the crowd. The temple tank has also been cleaned.
A. Annadurai, district collector inspected the arrangements on Sunday. He said that Thittai panchayat has made drinking water and toilet facilities for the benefit of devotees. Special buses will be operated to Thittai from Thanjavur, (new and old bus stands) and Kumbakonam bus stand.
P. Chandrasekar, district revenue officer, Jai Beam, revenue divisional officer, Uma Devi, deputy commissioner, HR and CE department accompanied the collector during his visit.
