CM Pinarayi Vijayan to have dinner with IAS officers today
Officers claim it is for the first time that a CM takes part
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IAS Officers Association has invited chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his wife to a dinner get-together to be held at the Golf Club premises on Saturday. Association sources said this was the first time that a chief minister is taking part in such a get-together of the IAS officers. A delegation of the association office bearers had recently met the chief minister and formally invited him to the get together. The invite has gone to over 300 member of IAS Officers Association.
Since the association had given advance notice to officers posted outside Capital, they expect good attendance with family members. Some of the top IPS officers are also expected to attend the dinner meeting. “Such dinner meetings do take place in other states so we decided to have one here as well. It is important to have such informal gathering with the head of the government,'' said a senior officer. The dinner meeting is taking place a day after the vigilance registered case against IAS officers’ Association president and additional chief secretary Tom Jose in connection with KMML cor ruption allegations.
A section of IAS officers had recently met chief minister and expressed their resentment over the manner in which cases were being registered and inquiries were being conducted by vigilance against officers. They alleged that the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau Director was unilaterally ordering such actions in violation of government order which makes it mandatory for the vigilance to seek permission of the government before initiating any inquiry against the public servant.
