Medicine at doorsteps of people: Minister Karumuri

Kakinada: Civil supplies minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao said that Jagananna Arogya Suraksha (JAS) programme is aimed at delivering medical treatment at doorsteps of patients.

The minister visited JAS centres in Tanuku, Kakileru, Duvva and Athili in West Godavari District on Saturday and interacted with people. He said for the first time in the country, government will be registering the health details of its people and providing medical care to all those who need it.

Nageswara Rao said medicines are being provided free of cost. If patients need further treatment, they are being referred to hospitals. Those requiring hospitalisation will be treated under Aarogyasri.

In Kakinada, MP Vanga Githa, Kakinada Rural MLA Kurasala Kannababu, collector Kritika Shukla and others inaugurated a secretariat building at Panduru-2 constructed at a cost of ₹40 lakh. They also visited the JAS counters of general medicine, orthopaedic, gynaecology, and paediatrics, among others.

Vanga Githa said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is giving importance to health and education of the people.

Kritika Shukla said the JAS programme is revolutionary. Treatment is being provided for seven types of diseases. 105 varieties of medicines are being given free of cost, she stated.
