Smuggler lands DCC president T Siddique in trouble

KOZHIKODE: Wanted smuggler Abu Laiz has friends not only in the LDF, but also in the UDF.  If earlier he was seen in the company of  LDF legislative members P.T.A. Rahim and Karat Rasaq, now he has been shown posing with DCC president T. Siddique and Youth League leader P.K. Firoz. The photographs  taken at a five-star hotel in Dubai  have  been circulating fast on the social networking sites. Mr Siddique told reporters that many Keralites had taken photographs with him when he went for election campaign in Dubai. “I am not  acquainted with him in anyway,”  he said and  added  that he welcomed any investigation regarding the photograph.

Earlier, a photograph  of Mr Rahim and Mr Karat Rasaq posing with Abu Laiz had been widely circulated triggering a controversy.  Mr Rahim clarified that he is a relative of Abu Laiz and also close to his father. The photograph controversy was a sequel to the luxury can incident  last week when CPM state  secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, leading the Janajagratha Yathra,     travelled on a Mini Cooper car owned by Karat Faizal who has alleged links with the smuggling lobby.
