K Mohandas to head 11th pay commission

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cabinet on Thursday constituted 11th Pay Commission to submit recommendations for the revision of pay scales of state government employees and teachers.

Former IAS officer K. Mohandas will be the chairman. Prof M.K. Sukumaran Nair, honorary director, Centre for Budgetary Studies and CUSAT and advocate Ashok Mammen Cheiryan are members.

The Commission has been asked to submit its report within  six months. The tenure of the existing Tenth Pay Commission had ended on June 30, 2019. As a result the new commission will come into effect from July 1, 2019.

The commission has been appointed based on the principle of pay revision once in every five years.

Former deputy director of agriculture department B Pramod has been appointed managing director of Plantation Corporation.

Eleven members of Kerala team which won 72nd Santosh Trophy will be appointed as LD Clerks in supernumerary posts of general education department.

Cabinet has accepted, subject to conditions, the project action plan submitted by Kochi Metro Rail for the Vyttila Mobility Hub second phase. The Cabinet has also decided to give administrative sanction for the Rs 571 crore project.

Cabinet takes in principle decision to allow police department to hire helicopter on rent for rescue operations during natural calamities, security during VIPs travel, aireal survey and coastal patrolling.

A committee headed by health minister will be constituted for organizing activities to make Ardram Mission more people oriented and comprehensive. Finance minister, local bodies’ minister and food minister will be joint chairpersons.

Delimitation Commission constituted for re-evaluating the local bodies segments. State Election Commissioner V Bhaskaran will be the chairman. The commission has been constituted as per the Kerala Panchayati Raj Act ahead of the local bodies elections scheduled to be held in October 2020.
