Change in marking for backlog Inter vocational papers
Hyderabad: In light of changes in marks allocation, candidates with backlogs in Intermediate vocational courses before the academic year 2012-13 will get a final opportunity to clear these papers through IPE-2024 and IPASE-2024 (Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examination).
The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education informed principals, managements of junior colleges, and candidates who pursued Intermediate vocational courses before the academic year 2012-13 and have backlog subjects, of the significant changes in the maximum marks allocation for specific subjects.
The alterations affect the following subjects: English and General Foundation Course (GFC) and On the Job Training (OJT). Before the academic year 2012-13, English and GFC had a maximum of 75 marks each. From 2012-13, the maximum marks for these subjects have been reduced to 50 each.
OJT had a maximum of 50 marks, after the academic year 2012-13, the maximum marks now have been increased to 100.
The notice read it has been observed that candidates who studied Intermediate vocational courses before 2012-13 and still have backlog subjects, are appearing for Intermediate Public Examinations, taking the examinations based on the new pattern. However, the marks scored by these candidates are being converted into the previous pattern.
Consequently, manually prepared Intermediate marks memos and pass certificates are issued to them. "The complication arises when these candidates pursue higher education or enter the job market, as most universities and colleges at the graduation level are accustomed to the new pattern of marks allocation introduced from the academic year 2012-13. Despite curriculum updates and changes in marks allocation, the previous pattern continues to be utilised," the notice said.
Candidates with backlogs in English, GFC, and OJT will now have a final opportunity to clear these backlogs through both IPE-2024 and IPASE-2024.
However, it's important to note that, starting from the academic year 2024-25, candidates appearing for such examinations will be required to follow the new pattern exclusively.
