Haryana Civil Servants Laud AP's Health Care Schemes, Fund Allocations
VIJAYAWADA: A team of civil servants from Haryana has lauded the Andhra Pradesh government’s massive fund allocations for healthcare in the state.
State health commissioner J. Nivas and other senior health officials explained to the Haryana team about the health schemes being implemented in the state. The Haryana team said they studied the implementation of the family doctor programme and the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha at the micro level.
“These schemes are providing immense benefits to the targeted beneficiaries,” the team members stated.
Nivas said chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy initiated revolutionary reforms in the health care system in the state through schemes such as YSR Aarogyasri and developed the basic infrastructure in government hospitals under the Nadu-Nadu programme.
“The present government set up 17 new government medical colleges, introduced the ‘family doctor’ concept and impressively implemented the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha. The 45-day programme of Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha is providing the services of specialist doctors even in villages. Nearly a lakh of poor people were provided with referral services free of cost,” he said.
He said the YSR Aarogyasri stood as a role model to the country. Under Aarogya Aasara, each patient is provided with '250 per day while recuperating at home after completion of treatment. No other state has such a scheme for the poor patients, he said.
Nivas said that under YSR Aarogyasri Trust, of which the chief minister is the chairman, the government is providing a series of services like free 108 Ambulance, family doctor programme linked 104 mobile medical unit, employees’ health scheme etc.
The health commissioner said AP also stood first in the country in the generation of the highest number of ABHA digital cards for the people.
