Training for third batch of Agniveers begins at Secunderabad

Hyderabad: After the first and second batch of Agniveers graduated and entered into the Armed forces in August and October respectively, training for the third batch of Agniveers commenced at 1 EME Centre in Secunderabad on Wednesday.

A total of 1,319 Agniveers for the 2023-24 batch, enrolled in various categories, began their basic training at the Military Training Battalion here, a press release stated.

A formal inaugural brief was also organised to commemorate day one of the training programme. The trainees were briefed about all important appointments, followed by an address by Brigadier Suresh G., commandant, 1 EME Centre. Brigadier Suresh told the Agniveers about the need for integrity, loyalty, and selfless service, mental and physical fitness and urged them to stay updated about the changes in technology required for them to transform into trained soldiers of the Indian Army and Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. He also spoke about the Centre’s readiness to train them, including administration facilities.

The Agniveers will undergo basic military training for 10 weeks at Secunderabad and 21 and 14 weeks of technical and trade training respectively at the assigned training institutions. The address was followed by a display by the military band and ended with the national anthem.

An Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC) will be inaugurated on November 2 by Major General Rakesh Manocha, SM, VSM, GOC TASA at 1 EME Centre as part of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) of the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship (MSDE).
