Lifeguards rescue woman after fall from cable-stayed bridge
HYDERABAD: Lifeguards of the Water School in Durgam Cheruvu rescued a girl who fell off the cable-stayed bridge and into the lake late Wednesday night. This is the second such incident at Durgam Cheruvu in the past three months.
Imrul Kaiyas, the lifeguard, heard a loud splash in the lake and assumed someone had thrown garbage off the bridge. Still, he alerted two life guards, Rajnikanth and Rahman, who headed to the spot in a safety vessel. There they found the girl struggling for life.
Two others followed in a separate boat as a back-up team. Rajnikanth and Kaiyas pulled the girl into the safety vessel and comforted her. She had swallowed a lot of water and the lifesavers helped revive her. They went to the shore where lakeside police were waiting to take her to a hospital. The girl is stated to be recovering.
