Saravanan to head Atomic Minerals Directorate
He has experience in exploration of atomic minerals spanning over 35 years in different geological domains
Hyderabad: B. Saravanan, Scientific Officer H, took charge as director, Atomic Minerals Directorate (AMD) for Exploration and Research, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India on Wednesday.
He took over from Dr D.K. Sinha. Prior to assuming office, Saravanan was Additional Director in the same Directorate. After obtaining an MSc in Geology from Madras University, he joined AMD in 1986. He has gained experience in exploration of atomic minerals spanning over 35 years in different geological domains of North-Eastern, Southern and Eastern parts of India.
He has published more than 50 scientific articles with new concepts in Exploration Geology which are being used in the atomic minerals exploration programme of AMD. He was also instrumental in organising many important conferences, collaborative projects and training programmes. He is the life member of various geological societies like Geological Society of India, Mineralogical Society of India and Indian Nuclear Society.
