Kaleshwaram: BRS Says BJP Copying Congres Pre-poll Tactic for Political Gain
Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) dismissed the demand for a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme by BJP state president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy as “nothing more than political gimmicks.”
Former irrigation and finance minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao said Kishan Reddy’s comments “really have no ground” because there were no mistakes or misappropriation of funds in the project. “We have already welcomed the Congress announcement for a judicial probe into the project, and I said in the recent Assembly session that it is our party’s stand,” Harish Rao said.
Kishan Reddy demanded that the Congress government in the state, if it was sincere to probe Kaleshwaram project deals, should ask the Centre for a CBI probe and if this is done, then the Centre will initiate an investigation “in two days.”
Harish Rao said: “The Congress used the same ‘we demand CBI probe’ line earlier against the BJP and now the BJP is using the same tactic. Both are playing games for political advantage.”
