Hyderabad: Portion of Balayya house to be razed
The demolition is being undertaken to widen the congested Jubilee Hills check post road.
Hyderabad: The GHMC is all set to raze the front portion of actor-politician N. Balakrishna’s ancestral house, once owned by his father and late Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao on Road No. 45, Jubilee Hills.
The demolition is being undertaken to widen the congested Jubilee Hills check post road. The GHMC standing committee has approved a compensation not just for the actor but many others whose properties will be acquired.
A square yard of land in the area costs about Rs 1.5 lakh. It was bought by Rama Rao for Rs 9 a square yard in the late 70s.
Chandrababu Naidu once occupied Balakrishna house
AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu lived in this house and his son Lokesh was brought up there. The house was then given to Balakrishna.
The road widening work was approved by the GHMC standing committee, headed by Mayor B. Ramamohan, on March 30. The road will be widened to 120 feet from Jubilee Hills check post to Road No. 45 junction.
The properties will be acquired after negotiation with the owners under provisions of the GHMC Act.
When contacted, GHMC commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy said the road engineering department had surveyed the road to widen it to accommodate the growing traffic. “Officials confirmed that the actor’s house was on the list for land acquisition.”
