Electric buses start services between Kadapa and Tirupati

ANANTAPUR: Electric buses of the APSRTC have started operating between Kadapa and Tirupati from Monday.

About 12 electric buses will be operated between the two destinations, of which six will be non-stop services. The service was inaugurated at the Kadapa depot by corporation chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy.

The buses start at 4.30 am and will continue services till 7.30  pm, benefiting ordinary passengers as well as devotees. The bus fare for all AC buses was fixed at Rs 340 per adult and Rs 260 per child.

The RTC chairman offered pooja to the electric buses at Kadapa depot. He said that electric buses would reduce pollution.

In the first phase, 12 electric buses were handed over to the Kadapa depot for services between Tirupati and Kadapa.

Electric bus services would be introduced at all depots across the state in a phased manner.  “Already, 50 electric buses are operating between Tirumala-Tirupati, 14 buses between Tirumala and Renigunta airport, 12 buses between Tirupati and Madanapalle and 12 buses between Tirupati and Nellore routes in the first phase,” he said.
