Kozhikode: It was a solid year of hard work, dedication and systematic study that brought cheers to Muhammed Munavvir V.V., who bagged the first rank (score 960) in the state medical entrance exam.

This young champ, who scored the 1,104th position in his first attempt last year, was confident enough to give a try and get into first ten ranks. He stood first in the second attempt.

There are no shortcuts to victory, he says, and the only key to success is sheer dedication and self-confidence.

Hailing from Koyyode, a small town in Kannur district, his decision to pick medicine for his future was an unexpected turn.

“After the first attempt, I was confident to score well, and this is the reason why I decided to devote an entire year for coaching, staying away from home, at Pala Brilliance Academy,” he said.

Aiming to study somewhere outside the State at a national medical institution, he is waiting for his AIIMS admission test results. From Class I to XII, he has been a student at AKG Memorial Government Higher Secondary School, Peralassery.

“Thoroughly learn the NCERT textbooks and prepare in a systematic way,” he tells other aspirants.

"I have worked out on a lot of previous year question papers and it helped me a lot. I devote four to five hours during the night for studies and nearly 10 hours during off days, which I systematically spend on subjects and topics in which I am weak."

“I would suggest my friends who are going to take the test to focus on one particular thing at a time and work out on as many problems and questions as possible,” he added.

Munavvir’s father is a special village officer at Makreri and mother a teacher at Payyambalam Government Girls High School.

His sister who just completed her SSLC exam scoring A plus in all subjects is also looking forward to following the path of his brother in the same medical field.
