Women wrestlers' stir: Call from AP to remove Brij Bhushan from all posts
VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sanghala Samanvaya Samiti has urged the central government to dismiss Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) secretary seneral and BJP MP, Brij Bhushan, from his all posts in view of the sexual harassment allegations against him.
The samiti also urged the government to extend protection to the women wrestlers who are staging agitation against Brij Bushan Singh.
The Samyuktha Kisan Morcha and AP Rythu Sanghala Samanvaya Samiti leaders staged a protest at the Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada on Thursday in support of the women wrestlers.
Later, they submitted a representation to NTR district collector Dilli Rao. The protests were staged under the leadership of former minister and samiti convener Shobhandreeswara Rao.
Rao said Brij Bhushan had sexually harassed women wrestlers and it was a shameful incident. The police beat up women wrestlers. He demanded a probe headed by a retired judge to ascertain facts.
CPM leader Babu Rao, CPI leader Akkineni Vanaja, Congress city chief Naraharasetti Narasimha, Forward Block secretary Sundara Ramaraju, CITU leader Uma Maheswararao, AITUC leader Ravindranadh, Kolanukonda Sivaji and others l participated in the protest.
