Hyderabad: Demanding that he should be married to the girl whom he saw recently in connection with a marriage proposal, a 24-year-old car driver climbed a mobile phone tower and threatened to commit suicide.

Narsimha, who was on the tower for a couple of hours came down after the police intervened. He was counselled in the presence of his parents and let off.

Narsimha, a resident of Bank Colony at Suchitra under Medchal police station limits saw a girl in connection with a wedding proposal recently. He liked the girl and was getting ready to marry her, but a few days ago, his parents received a communication from the girl's family saying that she did not like him. He tried to convince them but could not succeed.

Depressed he climbed the mobile phone tower near Medchal check post and threatened to commit suicide.

Police intervened and convinced him to come down and later shifted him to police station.

“We counselled him in the presence of his parents and let him off,” Medchal inspector S. Rajshekar Reddy said.
