Kochi: Former DGP T.P. Senkumar has hit back at the government in the DGP appointment issue. Mr Senkumar, in a counter statement submitted before the Central Administrative Tribunal, said that he supervised both the Jisha case and Puttingal case efficiently and the UDF government didn't find any fault in it. He added that the second investigation team in the Jisha murder case only reaped the benefits out of his efforts.

The team had conducted elaborate verification of 27 lakh call detail records and verification of CCTV footage. About 5,000 fingerprints were verified. The delay in getting call details from Reliance mobile service providers affected the progress of the investigation by the initial team. Since the initial team already sought the information, the second team got it quickly.

It was because of the CDR analysis and collection of evidences especially in the form of chappal by the probe team, the second team could easily find out the perpetrator of the crime subsequently. Mr Senkumar filed the statement on a plea filed by him challenging his removal from the post of State Police Chief. The state had criticised Senkumar and pointed out lapses in Puttingal and Jisha case as the reason for his ouster.

He further argued that details of investigation was placed before High Court and the court accepted the views and refused to interfere with the probe. Vital evidence such as DNA, Fingerprint, hair sample and footwear of the accused  were collected from the scene of crime through painstaking investigation. Forensic Odontology and Cyber Forensic analysis were extensively utilized.

It is the logical outcome of such scientific investigation which would result in not only arrest of the accused but also in successful prosecution, police said. Mr Senkumar pointed out that a crime was registered at Kuruppumpady station on April 28 at 9.30pm and all possible evidences were collected by the investigation team on the next two days.

It was clearly mentioned while registering the FIR that, the computer at the Police Station was not functioning for taking the print outs and it was recorded in the general diary of the police station. The report of ADGP Sreelekha clearly stated that the hardware problems comes because of the lack of resources provided by the government for the upkeep of the machinery. He also submitted that in Puttingal case he reached the spot at 4;45 am on the fateful day and monitored the rescue operations.
