Giddy driver lands BMTC bus in gutter
The driver sustained minor injuries, while all passengers were safe.
Bengaluru: A BMTC bus fell into a gutter after the driver experienced sudden giddiness and lost control over the wheels in Wilson Garden police station limits on Sunday. The driver sustained minor injuries, while all passengers were safe.
Police said the incident took place around 10:30 am in 3rd cross in Wilson Garden. The driver, Srikanth Kallappa, 43, a resident of Electronic City, felt uneasy and in order to avoid colliding with vehicles ahead of him, he took a sharp left turn and the bus landed in a gutter.
The police said that the driver was suffering from fits and as he skipped his breakfast, he felt giddiness. He was immediately rushed to the Nimhans for treatment. According to the police, the bus drivers are supposed to undergo mandatory medical test before they are hired. Hence it was a lapse on part of BMTC to hire a person with such medical history, they added.
The Wilson Garden traffic police have registered a case and are investigating further.
