Mysuru: Couple protests in front of police station
The girl's parents reportedly refused to allow her to marry her lover as he was from a different caste.
Mysuru: In a twist to a nine-year-old love story, a newly married woman walked out of her husband’s residence to marry her boyfriend and has now sought police protection.
The girl’s parents reportedly refused to allow her to marry her lover as he was from a different caste and got her forcibly married to a man from Bengaluru recently. But the woman was in no mood to give up her boyfriend and left her husband’s place to marry him. After they were reunited, the couple staged a protest in front of Ashokpuram police station here seeking police protection for both of them.
Seema (name changed), a resident of Railway quarters here, is the woman while her lover is Ravi (name changed) a resident of Ashokpuram. The woman was married off to a man from KG Halli in Bengaluru on April 24 much against her wishes.
Interestingly, after she left her in-laws’ house, they lodged a complaint with Ashokpuram police claiming she had taken away gold from their house. But Seema rejected the allegation and clarified to the police that they were her own jewels. The couple have requested for police security to enable them to live peacefully and warned that they may have to end their lives if this was not done.
