Bengaluru: A technical snag in a Metro train approaching the Ambedkar Metro Station delayed office-goers travelling on the Purple Line during peak morning hours by anywhere between 20 and 30 minutes on Monday. The train, heading from Mysuru Road to Baiyappanahalli Metro Station, developed the snag at 9.03 am at Ambedkar Metro Station and was taken off service at Trinity Metro Station. As a cascading effect, four other succeeding trains suffered delays.
Passengers on board trains heading to Ambedkar, Cubbon Park and MG Road stations were made to get down at the Trinity stations and later four additional trains were deployed to clear the rush. "It was just a technical issue which was identified at Ambedkar Metro Station.
The train system was reset and the train moved up to Trinity Metro Station where all passengers were de-boarded were accommodated in the following trains.
The corporation has ordered the experts to investigate and find out the reason for the technical fault," BMRCL senior official told DC.
Eight trains, which were following the faulty train, got delayed anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes. It was normalised by terminating one service at MG Road and cancelling four train trips from Baiyappanahalli towards Mysuru Road station.
"This is the first time I ever experienced this kind of problem. It was a peak hour and the flow of passengers was high. As soon as we got down from the train at Trinity Metro Station, we were worried because of the big crowd. BMRCL arranged for additional trains immediately and the rush was cleared soon," a commuter said.
