BC students demand fee reimbursement, scholarship arrears
HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Backward Classes Students Association on Saturday protested at Sanskhema Bhavan in Masab Tank, demanding immediate clearance of fee reimbursement arrears and scholarships by the state government.
Under the leadership of association general secretary Vemula Radhakrishna, hundreds of BC students participated in a sit-in protest, raising slogans against the state government.
Radhakrishna highlighted that the state government currently owes colleges Rs 5,000 crore in fee reimbursement arrears. As a result, colleges are causing trouble for students by preventing them from taking exams and withholding certificates upon course completion. He expressed concern that BC students are being deprived of higher education opportunities due to the non-release of certificates pending fee clearance.
BC students demanded equal reimbursement as provided to SC and ST students. They issued a warning to vote against the BRS if their issues remain unresolved. Additionally, they called for an increase in mess charges and the construction of dedicated buildings for BC college hostels.
