Kozhikode: The Muslim Students Federation will soon anounce a separate wing for the Dalits aimed at protecting their rights and  to protest against the fascism prevailing in the state.  This was stated by the outgoing members of the state committee which  passed the baton to the newcomers the other day. The MSF’s initiatives include Haritha for girls, Tech Fed for techies, Medi Fed for medical students and Research Forum for research scholars.

The Dalit youth federation is the last in the line suggested by the outgoing state committee, said former president T. P. Ashrafali.  The new section was aimed at promoting more discussions on Dalit topics and encouraging their presence while creating non-Muslim wings in their students’ federation, he added.

“Joshi Velayudhan from MAMO college, Mukkom, Kozhikode, has been nominated to  lead the Dalit wing. An official announcement  would be made here later this month. There should be  more discussions involving Muslim and Dalit students. They face many similar issues, especially during their studies and in society as a whole,” said Mr Ashrafali. The MSF elected its new panel of members on Sunday during its two-day state conference in Kannur.  Mr Ashrafali is currently the district panchayat member from Karuvarakund division in Malappuram district.
