TTD plans Maha Varuna Yagam for rains in AP
TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is planning to conduct “Maha Varuna Yagam” at Goddess Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanoor. This yagam aims to invoke blessings of the rain god, seeking bountiful rainfall for AP.
TTD executive officer (EO) A.V. Dharma Reddy made this announcement during a press conference following the "Dial Your EO" programme held at Tirumala on Friday.
He informed that Tirumala has reported a Hundi collection of Rs120 crore during the month of August. Around 22.25 lakh devotees visited the sacred hill temple last month. The temple distributed 1.09 crore laddus and 43 lakh servings of Annadanam. Additionally, around nine lakh devotees fulfilled their vow of offering their hair at Kalyanakatta, the EO said.
Dharma Reddy said TTD will conduct a three-day workshop from September 4 to September 6 at its SV Traditional Sculpture and Architecture College on making statues and building temples buildings.
Expert sculptors and Stapathis from AP, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka will present new skills and techniques in temple building at the workshop.
