Army tests the steel within, aspirants dirty grounds outside

Lack of facilities like toilets in the AOC Secunderabad led to the areas in the vicinity looking like mess.

The applicants had started pouring in at the AOC Friday night itself for the three-day recruitment drive.

Hyderabad: While thousands of aspirants turned up on Saturday, the first day of the recruitment drive in general, house keeper and chef categories in the Territorial Army, the lack of facilities like toilets in the AOC Secunderabad led to the areas in the vicinity looking like mess.

Many of the aspirants were found using the roadside as an open loo, while the AOC stadium, which was used to rest, was littered post meal. Footwear was found scattered at the stadium where the aspirants took the running test.  

The applicants had started pouring in at the AOC Friday night itself for the three-day recruitment drive. The aspirants underook a running test, followed by written and then medical tests for those who clear the first one.

Records state that candidates from  all districts Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, AP, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, apart from Union Territories of Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Goa, Daman & Diu, Lakshwadeep and Pondicherry attended the recruitment  drive. According to the Army officials, the number of applicants have increased this year.
