LDF government to allot remaining medical, dental seats
The KMCT Medical College had backed out of the agreement and decided to conduct admissions on their own.
Thiruvananthapuram: With the state government deciding to act tough, the KMCT Medical College, Kozhikode, has apprised the commissioner for entrance examinations (CEE) its willingness to hand over seats. The government has also decided not to agree to its demand to collect Rs 10 lakh fee for all seats in violation of the agreement. B. S. Maoji, the CEE, said the college would be allowed to collect only the agreed fee.
"The stand of the KMCT on common allotment was also not relevant," he told DC. “Even if they did not agree, the government could take over these seats as the Supreme Court had made it clear that only the state government could conduct admissions to vacant seats through a common allotment process.” The admission supervisory committee headed by Justice J. M. James has asked these colleges to submit the details of vacant positions before Monday. He said none of the colleges had provided them.
"We have decided to wait till Monday. If they do not provide the details by the stipulated time, we will go for strong action," he told DC. "It is not just the KMCT Medical College, which got the sanction from the court during the last phase of allotment, that did not provide the details. Others have also done the same." The KMCT Medical College had backed out of the agreement and decided to conduct admissions on their own.
Meanwhile, the dental council of India (DCI) has also extended the deadline for admissions to BDS courses to October 7. The colleges should upload the details of students admitted on its website using their already allotted login credentials by September 14 midnight. No request for an extension of time to upload the above details will be considered.
