Security arrangements ready for polls, says Rachakonda police chief
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police have made strong security for the Assembly election. Commissioner D.S. Chauhan on Thursday conducted awareness programmes for the field level staff on election rules.
Chauhan inspected Madgula, Yacharam and Ibrahimpatnam police stations and Maal chekpost Patnam and beefed up security at the Maal check posts. Twenty additional check posts have been set up for the polling.
He also supervised the security arrangements at the field level in view of the elections. Apart from that, he also visited check post arrangements at the police stations and inspected the security arrangements.
“We will do our best to conduct the Assembly elections in an armed manner. Around 24 check posts have been set up for security arrangements during polling in Rachakonda and armed checks are being conducted,” Chauhan said.
“After inspection, I felt the need for additional check posts to seize money being smuggled. We have so far seized Rs 40 crore since October 9, the commissioner said.
He interacted with the field level officers and explained to them about the election rules. “After a thorough survey, we have made all security - field and air - surveillance arrangements in the commissionerate for polling in the constituencies that fall in Rachakonda,” the commissioner said.
More than 90 people who have committed various crimes during the last election have been bound over in advance.
Five thefts that were reported this year in Madgula, have already been resolved and 85 per cent of the property has been recovered, he said.
