Travancore Devaswom Board bars women from bathing in river Pampa

Sabarimala: The women devotees who  visit  Sabarimala along with men  should not take bath in  the river Pampa, said Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president Prayar Gopalakrishnan on Thursday. “This new instruction is in the context of the complaints that those  coming to Pampa are  taking bath in the river. According to the norms, the pilgrims  should enter  Sabarimala only with the rituals associated with the  pilgrimage,"  he said.    An evaluation of the preparations as part of the Mandala Makara Vilakku festival    will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, he added. Mr Gopalakrishnan  was distributing the  awards for mediapersons who covered Sabarimala festival at Sannidhanam.
